1. Button down
There’s several different options here.
If I had to pick one, I’d say go with a slightly loose fit, that you can tuck in or leave out. It’s a classic style piece. Comfortable and versatile.
If you wanna have more than one, I’d add an oversized one to wear over bikinis as a cover up or just loose, with a couple buttons buttoned, and over some shorts.
And I’d also add a slightly fitted one, preferably in a silky fabric, to wear for dressier occasions and/or work.
2. White tee or tank... (but probably both)
One cropped and one to tuck in. So yea, it’s 4 tops. But just flow with me.
First of all, cropped doesn’t have to mean your whole stomach is hanging out. It just needs to line up with the waistband of your pants. So whatever length that is on your body.
And then I say tee or tank, because some people’s arms/shoulders/decolletage area might look better in a t-shirt than a tank top or vice versa. So pick whichever is best for you.
Last, but not least, having one you can tuck-in is always a different look and I recommend having that. Tucking things in just lends to a more polished look. It may not always be what you want. But it’s an easy way to “dress up” your tees.
3. Boxy tee/fitted tee (can be tee or tank depending on what looks better on your body type)
Yes, this might feel like a lot of tees and tanks, but they can be so versatile.
That’s why I suggest having different lengths and sizes, and sleeve lengths.
A boxy tee can balance off a slim skirt or tight pants.
Whereas a fitted tee can tuck nicely into some wide leg trousers. You wanna have some balance.
Having both loose fitting can come off sloppy. And having both pieces be tight fitting can just be uncomfortable.
