The end of Leggings?! ....

(not so quiet celebration for me *whooohooo*)

So a few days after my newsletter about leggings went out, my dad handed me this article titled “RIP Leggings. Big Workout Pants Are Taking Over.

Naturally I was like, duh. We’ve all been seeing the 90’s revival and baggy pants being a huge trend again. So I kinda gathered that’s what they were talking about. No more legging sets to brunch, or baggy sweaters over your leggings to meet up for coffee.

So I was like, “This is great! Glad this is finally a thing.”

But here’s where things didn’t line up for me.

The article goes on to say how leggings have been a staple since the early 2000’s and that people aren’t wearing leggings to workout anymore.

So, I’m hearing 2 messages here.

  1. Leggings have been a wardrobe staple for about 20 years.

  2. Referring to leggings as not being the “it” item anymore, but only in regards to working out.

For me, the issue was never about leggings being “it” or not when it comes to working out. They’re actually extremely functional for working out. Have you ever tried doing squats or lunges in bagging pants? It’s definitely not it. Lol.

But I always had a problem with people taking leggings into their daily wardrobe. To me they are almost like a uniform for the gym or working out. So why would you want to wear them to meet your friends or go to dinner? It just didn’t match up for me.

I honestly don’t really care what’s trendy for working out. I wear what’s functional and looks good on me.

To sum up...

I’ll be wearing my leggings to the gym, until further notice.

You still won’t catch me in them outside of that.

And I do love a good baggy pant, but you also won’t catch me in those, at the gym.

Hope you enjoyed this rant.

Ciao for now,

Tami Sofia
