New Year
In case any of you don’t know, I’m Iranian. Both my parents, and my sister, were born there. Before we made our way to the US. Yea, I’m skipping over a few details. But our journey here isn’t the point of this newsletter, so I’m keeping things brief.
In Iranian culture we celebrate the first day of spring as the marking of the New Year. That is this Friday.
And with all that’s going on these days, I wanted to take a moment to highlight this New Year.
I know many are torn about what’s currently happening in Iran. Those who are there are battling life and just waiting to see what will come of all of this. Those of us outside the country are feeling helpless and praying for the best outcome for the country.
And maybe a lot of people aren’t feeling celebratory this year.
I’m using it as an opportunity to really focus on and pray for this beautiful country to turn a new leaf. I pray for the beautiful people. I pray for the land that has been there for thousands of years. I pray they can rebuild and get back to sharing all the beauty they have. Music, the mountains, the deserts, the oceans, the valleys, the culture, the colors, the fabrics, the spices.
So many beautiful things exist in that country and sadly a lot of the world, especially the US, hasn’t been able to see because of the overshadowing from the tyrannical government.
This isn’t meant to be a political post, but rather to just highlight humanity, and beauty, in another part of the world. A part that I happen to be from.
And if you feel you’ve had a rough start to this year, then join me in celebrating this New Year, the first day of Spring, and allow yourself to turn a new leaf. Focus on your gifts and your blessings and make a point to showcase those to the world. We need more of that.
