Top 5 criteria to keep in mind when shopping…
1. How many ways can I wear this?
Let’s say they’re a pair of khaki pants. Can you wear them to work? Out with friends? To a family function? How many options do you see here?
2. Is this the type of thing I wear often (ie, I wear pants all the time or I wear sweaters all year long)?
This is pretty self-explanatory. Don’t buy 3 new dresses when all you wear is jeans. Make the purchase make sense.
3. Do I already have stuff to wear with this?
If it’s a skirt, do you already have tops that match? And shoes? And a bag? Does this item effortlessly fit into your existing wardrobe?
4. Other than a wash, does this item need work?
It could be minor, like a new zipper or a missing button. But just go ahead and add that to the cost and convenience of this item now. Just so your expectations are realistic.
5. How excited were you when you saw this item?
This may sound kinda silly and still could not be a good purchase for you, but that excitement plays into how much joy this will bring you. If you were super excited when you saw it and already started planning outfits, it’s usually a good sign.
Hope these help! Let me know if you have questions or if you have a topic you’d like some help on.
Best,
