Tips for Photoshoots (Part 3 of 3)

Do’s & Don’ts

Don’ts

●  Don’t wear small prints or skinny stripes.

●  Don’t wear anything sheer. (It’s even worse on camera!) Unless that’s the look you’re going for haha 😉

●  Don’t just take an assortment of clothes/shoes and hope to figure it out on set. Planning is really helpful here. You may deviate from the original outfits, but it’s helpful to have something as your base idea.

●  Don’t wear anything you’re not super comfortable in. Sounds like a no-brainer, but that skirt that you really have to suck-in for. Or the bra that makes you feel like you can’t breathe. Unless you’re a really great actress, I don’t recommend it.

●  Don’t forget your accessories! These can really help spice up a look. If you’re doing headshots, focus on earrings and necklaces. If you’re doing full body you have everything to play with, down to your shoes!

Do’s

√  Wear your best colors and silhouettes. Don’t worry about being super creative. Stick to your tried & true her.

√  Put on some fun music to loosen up and be your most authentic self.

√  Bring a friend or a hype person if you need it, to feel fun and playful. (Maybe that’s your stylist!)

√  Have a stylist on set, or someone who can watch your clothes/hair and make sure nothing is out of place while you’re moving around. (That’s not really the photographer’s job. They are looking at your face, lighting, angles, background, etc.)

√  Always bring some back up options! You never know what you might need.

Best,

Tami Sofia
